Januar 2018 mit einer Abendveranstaltung die Er\u00f6ffnung des neuen Masterstudiengangs \u201cScience and Technology Studies: Economies, Governance, Life\u201d. Der Studiengang hat zum Wintersemester 2017\/18 erstmals Studierende aufgenommen und wird in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institut f\u00fcr Humangeographie und dem Institut f\u00fcr Soziologie der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t angeboten.<\/p>\n<p>Den Abendvortrag h\u00e4lt der britische Humangeograph Andrew Barry (UCL London), dessen Forschungen zu \u201ctechnological zones\u201d, \u201cpolitical machines\u201d sowie \u00fcber die \u201ctemporality of infrastructure\u201d im Schnittfeld von Science and Technology Studies, Humangeographie, politischer Anthropologie, Area Studies, Materialwissenschaften, Wissenssoziologie und Wissenschaftsgeschichte angesiedelt sind. Bekannt geworden ist er durch seine Studie zum Bau der Transkaukasischen Erd\u00f6lpipeline (\u201eMaterial Politics. Disputes along the Pipeline\u201d 2013). In seinem Abendvortrag wird er mit den \u201cKnowledge Controversies\u201d ein Konzept der fr\u00fchen Science and Technology Studies aufnehmen, es aber neu wenden, um Fragen von Transnationalisierung, Expertenwissen, Demokratie und Legalit\u00e4t zu behandeln.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/aktuelles.uni-frankfurt.de\/event\/knowledge-controversies\/<\/p>\n<p>Im Anschluss wird eine Podiumsdiskussion den aktuellen Status der Science and Technology Studies beleuchten: Ist STS ein interdisziplin\u00e4res Forschungsprogramm, das durch Kollaborationen zwischen und innerhalb von Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften bzw. Natur- und Lebenswissenschaften getragen wird? Oder ist STS eine epistemische Haltung, die Wissenschaftler verschiedener Disziplinen aufnehmen und produktiv machen k\u00f6nnen? Vielleicht aber hat STS mittlerweile selbst einen hohen Grad an Disziplinarit\u00e4t gewonnen. Und wenn ja, was folgt daraus?
