Durch diese Auszeichnung und die gro\u00dfz\u00fcgige F\u00f6rderung der Willy Robert Pitzer Stiftung ist es der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t m\u00f6glich, die f\u00fchrende Virologin und Medizinerin an der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t und somit in Hessen zu halten. Aus diesen Mitteln wird unter anderem eine weitere Professur am Institut f\u00fcr Medizinische Virologie, das Ciesek leitet, f\u00fcr f\u00fcnf Jahre finanziert. Zur Sicherung der Nachhaltigkeit dieser neuen Professur wird die Willy Robert Pitzer Stiftung sie als \u201eWilly Robert Pitzer Stiftungsprofessur f\u00fcr Virologie\u201c f\u00fcr weitere f\u00fcnf Jahre mit 1,75 Mio. Euro f\u00f6rdern.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Pr\u00e4sident der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t, Prof. Enrico Schleiff, freut sich \u00fcber die langfristige und umfangreiche F\u00f6rderung der Virologie an der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t und dem Universit\u00e4tsklinikum Frankfurt: \u201eProfessorin Ciesek ist eine ausgesprochen vielseitige Wissenschaftlerin und forscht seit dem Beginn der Corona-Pandemie intensiv an SARS-CoV-2. Ihrer Entdeckung, dass auch symptomfreie Patienten das Virus \u00fcbertragen k\u00f6nnen, hat die wissenschaftliche Grundlage f\u00fcr ein effektives Pandemiemanagement gelegt.\u201c Professorin Ciesek ist sowohl in der Aufkl\u00e4rung molekularer und zellul\u00e4rer Infektions- und Resistenzmechanismen von SARS-CoV-2, in der Entwicklung innovativer Verfahren zur Diagnostik des Virus sowie in der klinischen Forschung zu COVID-19-Medikamenten aktiv. Zur Einsch\u00e4tzung des Pandemiegeschehens hat unter anderem eine Studie beigetragen, die sie mit 800 Kita-Kindern durchgef\u00fchrt hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201eJetzt erm\u00f6glicht der Schulterschluss von LOEWE-Spitzenprofessur mit der Willy Robert Pitzer Stiftung eine nachhaltige Forschungsf\u00f6rderung der Virologie an der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t\u201c, so Prof. Schleiff weiter. \u201eDass wir mit den F\u00f6rdermitteln eine weitere Professur am Institut f\u00fcr Virologie einrichten k\u00f6nnen, das Professorin Ciesek leitet, wird der herausragenden Rolle ihrer virologischen Forschung gerecht.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Stefan Zeuzem, Dekan des Fachbereichs Medizin der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t, erkl\u00e4rt: \u201eFrau Professorin Ciesek hat mit ihrem Team der Virologie hervorragende Arbeit in Forschung und Lehre geleistet.
