Nach dem Magisterabschluss war sie in der Lehre t\u00e4tig. Ihre Dissertation verfasste sie im Rahmen des DFG-gef\u00f6rderten Projekts \u201eFertiler Wandel im Sultanat Oman\u201c bei Prof. Julia Pauli und Prof. Laila Prager. Seit 2022 ist sie wissenschaftliche Koordinatorin im SFB 1475 \u201eMetaphern der Religion: Religi\u00f6se Sinnbildung in sprachlichen Prozessen\u201c am Centrum f\u00fcr Religionswissenschaftliche Studien (CERES) an der Universit\u00e4t Bochum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zwischen 2016 und 2017 hat Jordan insgesamt zw\u00f6lf Monate lang ethnographische Forschungen in der zentralomanischen Oasenstadt al-Hamra durchgef\u00fchrt. Sie besch\u00e4ftigte sich mit einer demographischen Entwicklung, die seit den 1970er Jahren im Oman zu beobachten ist, n\u00e4mlich dem starken Geburtenr\u00fcckgang, der auch als \u201ereproduktive Revolution\u201c bezeichnet wird. Jordans Arbeit relativiert die Einsch\u00e4tzung, dass es sich tats\u00e4chlich um eine Revolution handelt, die mit Vorstellungen einer neuen \u201eModerne\u201c einhergeht. Sie richtet ihren Blick auf ver\u00e4nderte Heiratspraktiken und Genderrollen und auf sich wandelnde Normen und Werte in Bezug auf Geburtenkontrolle und Familienplanung \u2013 und kommt so zu einem differenzierten Bild. Der Zeitraum ihrer Untersuchung erstreckt sich \u00fcber mehrere Generationen, von den 1970er Jahren bis in die Gegenwart, und st\u00fctzt sich auf 70 systematisch erhobene Geburten- und Heiratsgeschichten von Frauen, umfangreiches Interviewmaterial sowie erg\u00e4nzende quantitative Daten und Quellenanalysen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Dissertation zeigt nach Ansicht des Frobenius-Instituts eindrucksvoll, wie produktiv die Ethnologie in den Dialog mit anderen Disziplinen treten kann. Sie schlage eine Br\u00fccke zur Demographie, ohne ihre ethnologische Identit\u00e4t aufzugeben. Sie nutze quantitative Daten, um qualitative Erkenntnisse zu vertiefen \u2013 und ethnographische Tiefe, um statistische Trends zu deuten.
