Besonders spannend sind dabei Materialien, deren Eigenschaften auf komplexen Wechselwirkungen zwischen Elektronen beruhen \u2013 sogenannte r\u00e4umlich-zeitliche elektronische Korrelationen. Solche Materialien k\u00f6nnen beispielsweise Strom ohne Widerstand leiten oder besondere magnetische Eigenschaften zeigen \u2013 Ph\u00e4nomene, die f\u00fcr zuk\u00fcnftige Quantencomputer oder energieeffiziente Elektronik von gro\u00dfer Bedeutung sein k\u00f6nnten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In der zweiten F\u00f6rderperiode nimmt die Forschungsgruppe nun neue Materialklassen ins Visier: Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt auf den erst vor Kurzem entdeckten Moir\u00e9-Quantensystemen, deren theoretische Beschreibung zu den gr\u00f6\u00dften Herausforderungen der aktuellen Quantenphysik z\u00e4hlt. Um diese zu meistern, setzt QUAST auf eine enge Verzahnung von Theorie und Experiment: Neue mathematische Methoden sollen gemeinsam mit ma\u00dfgeschneiderten Experimenten entwickelt werden, um ein tieferes Verst\u00e4ndnis dieser exotischen Materialien zu gewinnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>QUAST-Sprecherin Prof. Roser Valent\u00ed erkl\u00e4rt: \u201eMit den Moir\u00e9-Quantensystemen stehen wir vor einer der spannendsten Herausforderungen der modernen Festk\u00f6rperphysik.
