Studiengalerie 1.357 an der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t zeigt Videoarbeit der K\u00fcnstlerin Charmaine Poh.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vom 7. Mai bis zum 4. Juni 2025 zeigt die Studiengalerie 1.357 an der Goethe-Universit\u00e4t eine Videoarbeit der aus Singapur stammenden K\u00fcnstlerin Charmaine Poh. Die mit \u201eWhat\u2018s softest in the world rushes and runs over what\u2019s hardest in the world\u201c betitelte Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Leben queerer Elternpaare in Singapur. Die Ausstellung ist eingebettet in die Diversity-Woche des Fachbereichs 08, die vom 5. bis 9. Mai 2025 stattfindet. Die Woche bietet f\u00fcnf Tage lang die M\u00f6glichkeit f\u00fcr interdisziplin\u00e4ren Austausch, eine Sensibilisierung f\u00fcr unterschiedliche Perspektiven und f\u00fcr den Einbezug von Diversit\u00e4t in Lehre und Forschung.<\/p>\n

Zur Videoarbeit: In ruhigem Rhythmus flie\u00dfen Szenen weicher Lichtstimmungen, raschelnder Baumkronen und neugieriger Kinderh\u00e4nde \u00fcber die Projektionsfl\u00e4che. Mit ihrer Videoarbeit l\u00e4sst Charmaine Poh drei queere Elternpaare aus Singapur zu Wort kommen. Die Interviewten erz\u00e4hlen von der strukturellen Diskriminierung queerer Familien, aber auch von ihren Lebenswegen und ihrem gemeinsamen Kinderwunsch. Durch die komplexe und liebevolle Begegnung von \u00c4ngsten und entschlossener Selbstverwirklichung werden unterschiedliche Formen des Zusammenlebens mit dem universellen Wunsch nach Familie und Geborgenheit verwoben. Die Videoarbeit, deren Titel dem Gedicht \u201eWater and Stone\u201c des chinesischen Naturphilosophen Lao Tzu entnommen ist, gleicht einem Prisma, das den Begriff Familie in unterschiedliche Bedeutungsebenen zerlegt. Gesellschaftlich und rechtlich werden queere Familien in Singapur nicht als Familie anerkannt. Bis 2022 galt ein aus der britischen Kolonialzeit stammendes Gesetz, das gleichgeschlechtlichen Sex kriminalisierte. Aktuell ist die gleichgeschlechtliche Ehe noch verboten.<\/p>\n

Statt bei heteronormativen Narrativen anzuhalten, was „nat\u00fcrlich\u201c oder \u201enormal\u201c sei, zeigt Charmaine Poh vertraute Alltagsrituale in zwischenmenschlicher und naturgebundener Harmonie. Poh wechselt immer wieder zwischen Bildern aus der h\u00e4uslichen Sph\u00e4re und aus der Natur und formt eine stille, z\u00e4rtliche Vertrautheit von K\u00f6rper und den Elementen. Durch das Zusammenflie\u00dfen verschiedener queerer Familiengeschichten zeigt die Videoarbeit, dass im Zentrum von Familie eine gemeinsame, gelebte Praxis aus geteilten Tr\u00e4umen und \u00c4ngsten steht; eine intime Verbundenheit.<\/p>\n

Zwischen Dokumentation, emotionaler Selbsterz\u00e4hlung und poetischen Bildern changierend, schafft Poh eine sichere softe H\u00fclle inmitten der Natur. Dadurch er\u00f6ffnet sich ein Raum f\u00fcr das Harte, um verletzlich \u00fcber elterliche \u00c4ngste, den Wunsch nach Zugeh\u00f6rigkeit und den Traum von der eigenen Familie zu sprechen.<\/p>\n
