Lecture by Elinor Carmi explores “How to Be a Proactive Citizen in the AI and Datafied Society”
How can citizens move from passive digital consumption to active participation in shaping the digital world? This is the central question explored by digital rights expert Dr. Elinor Carmi in her upcoming talk, “How to Be a Proactive Citizen in the AI and Datafied Society?” Taking place on Tuesday, June 10, from 6 to 8 PM at Westend Campus (Casino Building, Room 1.811), the event is hosted by Goethe University’s Faculty of Educational Sciences in cooperation with the Center for Critical Computational Studies (C3S).
From social media algorithms to AI-driven decision systems that shape job prospects and public opinion, digital technologies are deeply embedded in our everyday lives. In her lecture, Carmi will explore how we can develop the mindset and tools needed for digital agency and democratic engagement – even within complex, data-driven systems.
Dr. Elinor Carmi is a Senior Lecturer at St George’s, University of London, and a leading activist, researcher and journalist in digital policy, justice and governance. She advises major institutions like UNESCO, Amnesty International, WHO, and the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office.
The talk will be held in English and will be followed by an open discussion. No registration required.
