Solidarity with Ukraine

The Goethe University Presidential Board reacts with great shock to the Russian invasion of Ukraine: „Our thoughts are with the victims, the countless people who are suffering from this armed conflict and the members of the Ukrainian universities.  We also express our solidarity with the families of our staff and students from Ukraine in these difficult times for them,“ said University President Prof. Dr Enrico Schleiff.

In its mission statement, Goethe University is committed to the ideas of the European Enlightenment, democracy and the rule of law and opposes racism, nationalism and anti-Semitism. „The attack on Ukraine represents a blatant violation of these values on whose foundation Europe stands,“ said Schleiff: „We do not give up hope that this conflict can continue to be resolved by peaceful means.“
