Friedrich Hölderlin Guest Lectures

11. June 2024, 18:00 bis 20:00

The international and interdisciplinary Friedrich Hölderlin Guest Lectures in General and Comparative Theater Studies place theater studies within the wider context of the philosophical, political and linguistic-philosophical questions that are part of thinking about theater. Since theater is, after all, not just the fleeting product of an evening, but also a process, an interaction, an action and, above all, a critical practice, the lectures also address questions of theater theory. Guest speakers of the Friedrich Hölderlin guest lectures on general and comparative theater studies are Jasper Delbecke and Katalin Trencsényi.

Dr. Jasper Delbecke is an art and theater scholar whose academic work attests to a curiosity in how the (performing) arts deal with past events and the politics of representation of personal, local, national or global histories. From October 2023 until January 2024, Delbecke served as a part-time guest professor at the Department of Art History, Musicology, and Theatre Studies at Ghent University.

Katalin Trencsényi (HU/UK) is an award-winning dramaturg, theater-maker and researcher. Her focus areas include newand expanded dramaturgies, dance dramaturgy, comparative 49 dramaturgy, women and theater, and political theater. Currently, Katalin is working as a lecturer on the Comparative Dramaturgy and Performance Research programme at the University of the Arts Helsinki.
