In cooperation with Goethe University Frankfurt, the ASCG – Accounting Standards Committee of Germany (ASCG) opened a Liaison Hub to support the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). The objective is to obtain scientific evidence for standard setting activities. The focus should be on sustainability reporting and its harmonization as well as on connectivity with financial reporting. The research cooperation is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Anna Rohlfing-Bastian (Head of the Chair of Accounting, in particular Management Accounting at Goethe University).
The opening was attended by Jenny Bofinger-Schuster (ISSB member), Georg Lanfermann (President of the ASCG), Kristina Schwedler (Research Director of the ASCG), Erika Bognár (ASCG Liaison Hub associate), as well as Prof. Dr. Christian Schlag (Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Goethe University and Professor at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Market Research SAFE) and Prof. Dr. Anna Rohlfing-Bastian. The meeting included a constitutive discussion on proactive standard setting issues and the research agenda.
Georg Lanfermann commented as follows at the opening: “The opening of the ASCG Liaison Hub provides a clear signal of support for international standard-setting activities in Frankfurt. We are looking forward to intensifying our work with the ISSB.”
Jenny Bofinger-Schuster welcomes the work of Goethe University Frankfurt and the ASGC, remarking “The ISSB sets standards that are by the market, for the market. Our standards are strengthened by independent research. We look forward to benefiting from insights received from the ASCG’s Liaison Hub’s future research results.”
Prof. Dr. Anna Rohlfing-Bastian added: “We are looking forward to the collaboration between standard setters and Goethe University to contribute with our research to the process of developing international standards for sustainability reporting and simultaneously receive input for future research projects.”
