Stiftung Giersch presents awards and grants

27 individuals distinguished: in cooperation with the graduate school HGS-HIRe, Stiftung Giersch presented the Giersch Excellence Awards and Giersch Excellence Grants to early career researchers from the universities in Darmstadt and Frankfurt for the fourth time. A total of €100,000 in prize money was awarded. The award-winners were selected by representatives from the various faculties at Goethe University and Technische Universität Darmstadt.

Six young researchers received a Giersch Excellence Award of € 6,000 each for their completed dissertations which exemplified their exceptional scientific talent: Dr. Björn Borm, Dr. Volodymyr Vovchenko, Dr. Alba Soto Ontoso (all from Goethe University Frankfurt) and Dr. Julius Gronefeld, Dr. Alexander Tichai and Dr. Olga Sokol (all from Technische Universität Darmstadt).

Another 21 promising young researchers who are currently doctoral candidates received a Giersch Excellence Grant of € 2,500 each. From TU Darmstadt Sajjad Hussain Mirza, Lukas Rammelmüller, Jan-Paul Hucka, Alexey Prosvetov, Philipp Bolz, Bernhard Maaß, and Frederic Kornas were awarded a grant. Carsten Klein, Christian Reisinger, Ernst Hellbär, Patrick Huhn, Paula Hillmann, Elias Most, Daniel Koser, Sebastian Schmalzbauer, Simon Spies and Etienne Bechte from Goethe University also received an Excellence Grant.
