The Council of the European network for structural biology research infrastructure, Instruct-ERIC, has re-elected Professor Harald Schwalbe from Goethe University for a second term. The structural biologist, who has headed the European research infrastructure network since 2022, will now hold the position until December 2031.
Instruct-ERIC is a Europe-wide research infrastructure that provides users with high-end technologies and methods in structural biology. ERIC stands for European Research Infrastructure Consortium and refers to a special legal form that enables the establishment and operation of research infrastructures of European interest on a non-profit basis. ERICs are funded by member countries and managed by representatives of the 17 member countries.
Professor Harald Schwalbe is recognized worldwide for his development of modern NMR methods and pulse sequences and their application to complex fundamental problems in chemistry and biology. His research has contributed significantly to a better understanding of key biological processes.
