Gilles Laurent, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research and Professor at the Department of Biosciences at Goethe University, is awarded the Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine 2025 for his research work, which has led to fundamental insights into brain function. The prize is endowed with 500,000 Swiss francs (around 500,000 euros). Laurent combines comparative, evolutionary, functional and molecular neuroscience with computational theories, thus shaping the modern science of neuronal populations. In addition to Laurent, the Louis-Jeantet-Foundation honors Professor Veit Hornung from the Gene Center of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. The award ceremony will take place on April 9, 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.
