Klement Tockner appointed to German Science and Humanities Council

German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier appointed Klement Tockner, director general of the Senckenberg – Leibniz Institution for Biodiversity and Earth System Research (SGN) and Professor of Ecosystem Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt, to the German Science and Humanities Council [Wissenschaftsrat]. The nomination follows the joint suggestion of the German Research Foundation [Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG], Max Planck Society, the German Rectors’ Conference, Helmholtz Association, Fraunhofer Society and Leibniz Association. In this capacity, the internationally renowned aquatic ecologist will advise Germany’s federal government and the governments of its federal states for a period of three years on all issues related to the content and structural development of science, research and the higher education sector.
