How do we talk about origins when “home” is not a single place? What stays behind – and what travels with us? These questions take center stage in the exhibition “Verflochten. Perspektiven postmigrantischer Gegenwart” (Interwoven. Perspectives of the Post-Migrant Present), opening Thursday, 18 September 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the foyer of the Central Library at Goethe University Frankfurt.

Five artistic works created in Frankfurt bring together personal migration stories and creative expression. Wire masks, canvas, sound, objects, and film form a tapestry of memory, identity, and the interplay between rootedness and movement. Personal stories are turned into artform by means of conversations and collaboration.

The exhibition grew out of the master’s project of Loredana Sofía Pellizzon, a student in Art, Media and Cultural Education at Goethe University. Since June 2025, Pellizzon has engaged with young Frankfurt residents – many from the second and third generation with family migration backgrounds – translating their experiences into art and opening up new perspectives through a mix of conversations, creative experiments and personal expressions.
