Appointed as the second lecturer for the Schoeller Lectureship for the 2025/26 winter semester, Eva Schestag translates poetry and prose from classical and modern Chinese as well as from English. On two evenings, she will explore the art of poetic translation through a combined lecture and reading format; on the following day, she will offer a workshop on literary translation for students and other interested participants, in collaboration with the university’s instructors. The accompanying seminar at Goethe University will be led by Prof. Dr. Dr. Judith Kasper (General and Comparative Literature) and Prof. Dr. Frederike Middelhoff (Modern German Literature).
In memory of Monika Schoeller, a publisher and supporter of literature and translation, a new lectureship dedicated to the field of literary translation was arranged in Frankfurt for the 2024/25 winter semester. It was initiated and is carried by the S. Fischer Foundation and the Freies Deutsches Hochstift, in collaboration with the Institute for German Literature and its Didactics as well as the Institute for General and Comparative Literature at Goethe University.
